7x24 Exchange Carolinas Chapter's WiMCO session during our summer meeting will be a powerhouse panel of experienced women in the industry: "Raise the Roof- The Power of Women in Leadership", moderated by Mara Fowler.

Panelist Spotlight

Karen Petersburg
Design Director
Digital Realty

Karen Petersburg has over 16 years of diverse design and construction experience in the mission critical industry. Beginning her career in the construction industry at a concrete sub-contractor firm, she moved into a project engineering role with a General Contractor where she first fit-out high-end commercial buildings and then worked on data centers, igniting her passion for all things technical. After building her foundational knowledge of the collaboration required between the critical data center equipment, she commissioned mechanical systems and managed projects for a commissioning firm. She then transitioned to managing the design and commissioning of data center projects up and down the East Coast for Digital Realty and she is now currently responsible for the adherence to Digital Realty's design standards and processes globally. When Karen isn’t out running or on her yoga mat, she is invested in understanding the philosophical and socio-economic dimensions of data, especially how we perceive and actualize its utility in everyday life and what that means for the future of our globalized society.

Enya Schumacher is an accomplished professional in the data center industry, currently leading construction in the west region at core and regional data centers for Wells Fargo. With a diverse background and a career focused on critical facilities, Enya has demonstrated a strong commitment to delivering quality services.

Raised in North Carolina, Enya developed a passion for the area and its treasures. Growing up in a close-knit family, she spent her days in her mother's salon or exploring her grandparents' farmland on 4-wheelers, fostering a love for both people and machines.

After earning a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Enya joined Syska Hennessy Group, where she honed her skills in designing mechanical systems, laying the foundation for her career. She then gained valuable experience at Bank of America, refining her project management and operational aptitude. Later, as a Program Director at Bureau Veritas Primary Integration, she delved into the intricate details of commissioning and worked with a diverse range of clients. Seeking to specialize in data center construction, Enya joined the team at Wells Fargo.

Throughout her career, Enya has achieved professional milestones, becoming a licensed Professional Engineer and a Certified Commissioning Authority. Additionally, she has dedicated her time as a lead mentor with the ACE Mentoring Program, contributing to the development of aspiring professionals for over a decade.

Outside of work, Enya enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, relishing the company of friends and family. With a love for the outdoors, she finds joy in activities that involve 2 or 4 wheels. She is an avid traveler, whether it's embarking on a camping trip in the mountains of North Carolina or exploring the wild on a safari in Africa. When at home, she can be found training their puppy, baking, or building LEGOs with her daughter, with pound cakes and the latest LEGO set being the perfect combination—assuming the puppy doesn't get to them first.
